You’ve probably seen the ads for so-called miracle stretch mark removal cream but does it really work? Is there scientific evidence that the ingredients in these creams can actually reduce the appearance of these scars? The truth is that no cream will offer a definitive solution simply because we all have unique skin and we all react differently to different products.
For some women after pregnancy the horrible stretch mark scars can crush their self esteem. Its estimated that less than 10% of women will lose these scars “naturally” while as much as 20% of women will never lose the scars completely. If you don’t see any visible results after 30 days then its probably not the right cream for you. Removing stretch mark scars with a cream can take a few months (depending on your skin type and the severity of your scars) and if you are impatient then this is probably not the best option for you.
Laser treatments are much faster and tend to give better results but it can cost as much as $10,000 – and your health insurance won’t cover it because its just cosmetic. Compared to that, a cream is a fraction of the cost but the massive demand for surgical procedures means that its getting more affordable.
Like all skin care, prevention is better than cure and if you want the maximum results from a stretch mark removal cream you need to start using it during your pregnancy and continue using it afterwards.
